Coinbase added Ripple USD (RLUSD) to its retail app, Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Prime on Oct. 28, giving customers in supported regions another dollar stablecoin to trade and move, according to Coinbase’s announcement.
The listing brings RLUSD to Coinbase’s retail and institutional platforms, with transfers available across three blockchain networks.
Stablecoins are dollar-pegged tokens used in crypto trading and, increasingly, for payments and settlement, Reuters reported. Ripple launched RLUSD in December 2024; it had a market capitalization above $2.5 billion on Oct. 28, according to Reuters citing CoinGecko.
Where can Coinbase customers trade RLUSD?
Customers in supported regions can trade and manage RLUSD through Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase retail app. The availability covers retail and institutional users, giving both groups access through Coinbase services they already use.
Coinbase also said customers can convert U.S. dollars into RLUSD at a 1:1 rate. The listing announcement did not include a fee schedule, so it does not establish what trading or transaction costs users may face.
Which networks support RLUSD deposits and withdrawals?
Coinbase supports RLUSD deposits and withdrawals on the XRP Ledger, Base and Ethereum. That gives users three network options when moving the token between Coinbase and compatible wallets or services.
Ripple will provide liquidity on Base to support RLUSD use there, Coinbase said. The company did not specify the amount of liquidity or give further detail on how it will be supplied.
What is still to come on Coinbase?
Coinbase Global Exchange customers do not yet have access under the initial rollout. Coinbase said availability for those customers will follow, including the ability to use RLUSD as collateral.
For now, the announced access is limited to supported regions and the listed Coinbase services. The rollout broadens where RLUSD can be traded and transferred, while its use as collateral on Coinbase Global Exchange remains a later step.
